You do realize the Denon is a stereo receiver, right? It won't work at a HT type AVR.

I would vote for Denon, used ot have one. But at that price and those units it's 6 one and a half dozen for the other.

Yamaha receivers

Yamaha also makes some great entry level receivers. Look for the HTR-5960 online from authorized dealers for about $300 and the HTR-5940 (comparable to the Onkyo you linked) for $200.

Onkyo Tx-SR804??

Need some advice on this receiver....I have an 1080p 50' Panansonic plasma and my question is if I purchase an upconverting DVD player do I need an HDMI receiver? Also, whats the deal with HDMI pass through and switching??

Onkyo receivers have an outstanding user interface. I have owned 2 Onkyo HT receivers and both were excellent.
