denon + SVS auto correct, redundant?

I think the big idea is that this just does your subs and you can route the mic to your receiver as well. This way, the denon handles the speakers and the SVS handles the sub(s). But I won't be seeing this anytime soon as it costs more than my entire setup, as sad as that is...

Well some people bought the Onkyo TX-SR805 for as low as $399, with Audyssey MultEQ XT. :)

I personally pay a litte more than that, but still... :)

So, what was your question again?

definitely not. IMO, the built in audyssey of my 3808 kills the bass completely ... and i've never used audyssey until i got my EQ1.

for the upper frequencies though, i just realized that the 3808 audyssey really improves the sound of the speakers.

basically, tell your wife that the denon audyssey cannot EQ bass frequencies ... or tell her that it's a new disc player :)

Mmm... I wonder if receivers from different manufacturers with Audyssey MultEQ XT have different results, or if it's the rooms of individuals that affect the final results the most?

Also the number of microphone measurements might have something to do with that too?

And from what I read at Audyssey, Chris seems to recommend turning off the digital EQ of the sub(s) for most accurate results.

Am I missing something or is that new SVS sub revolutionary?

From what I read about that new SVS sub with it's own EQ, it is exactly that; it's own EQ and that you should turn Audyssey off (or more exactly that the SVS will take care of not letting Audyssey filters the low bass), so only the higher frequencies (mids and highs from the other speakers) will be filtered by Audyssey, while the SVS sub with it's own digital EQ system will filter it's own low frequencies?

Mmm... I'm gonna need some more research into this, I guess.
It always get more complex as more stuff get released; Dolby Pro Logic IIz (matrix) into two height channels, Audyssey DSX (Dynamic Surround Expansion) with two height and two front wide side channels. Audyssey PRO capability. Tons of extra features...
And the new Denon AVR-4810ci, a 9.3-channel speaker configuration, with 9 power amps inside (multi mono-block construction), 140 watts times 9, ouch!
Three subwoofer outputs? Dacs = TI PCM-1791a times 4 (stereo dacs)!!! Well probably 6 now for 12 channels (9.3).
For $3,000, why not use the 1796 in true differential mode for all channels?
You will need 12 stereo dacs (chips) for that (24 single dacs).
Anyway, much cheaper than the 1792.

New video processor by Anchor Bay Technology, VRS ABT-2010; finally Denon is getting somewhere here.
Denon Link version 4, with jitter reduction.

Mmm... Hard to keep up...

HDMI version 1.4

High resolution video with 4k

Ultra high resolution video with 8k and even more...

True multicolor 3D video

Holographic technology

0.3mm flat panel display

flat speakers

Mmm.... I think I need a break...or maybe not, just have to keep up with all of it in the name of a better technology (I hope) for a better experience in Sound and Picture quality, and an economy due to rebound at some point. Money got to flow freely again, it is our destiny and our principles.

I'll do my best trying to keep up.

Most higher end denon's ($500+) have some variation of Audessy's room EQing program. Will the new SVS product ( http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/acoustics/svs-as-eq1-sub-eq ) be redundant? Or is there a way I can still sell this to the Misses?
Well, for one, the ASEQ1 can do 32 positions (for better/accurate resolution). I will also presume that the technology should benefit from the added processing power of a laptop (compared to the chip they put in receivers). The XT in receivers only do 8 positions. Also, for those with dual subs, this unit will calibrate for the subs individually, where receivers would have to do it in a "summed" situation.

I purposely held out on any SMS1, AntiMode, etc, for this thing. I think I'm still not going to buy it, because I'm happy for now, but if I had two subs, this would fly to the top of my wanted items.

I still dig Audessy from my AVR and the SMS on the sub.

Sounds awesome.

I use the Audyysey on my Onkyo 805 and my Denon 3808 and it helped greatly in fixing bass issues in my two HT systems (both 7.1) it tamed the bloated sound and adjusted the levels perfectly. My GF suffers from severe asthma and deep bass notes set her asthma off, so when I used to have my Denon 4802R many movies would set her asthma off, Now I can listen at higher levels with more controlled bass. Although movies like "Cloverfield" or Transformers" still set it off, it doesn't happen all that often. BTW I use a SVS in both my systems.
