I have a Denon S510BT connected to Polk Audio speakers:

L/R: T15
Center: CS10
In ceiling SL/SR: RC55i
2 Subs: PSW10 (0 phase, 160Hz)

I have everything set to small, Crossover to 60Hz (front, center, surround), subs to LFE, and LPF for LFE 120Hz.

I raised the volume to high on my receiver. But in order to hit 75-80db I can’t lower my frequency lower then -12db. To hit the mark.. Am I doing something wrong or is my living room too big in order to hit 75-80db?

Unless you are in a really small space you won't hit those levels with small $69 per pair bookshelf speakers. If you persist in trying it will soon be new speaker time for you.

Guess I’ll keep trying. Thank for letting me know I’m broke and can’t afford anything else. Just trying to understand and learn.

Raise your crossover to 100hz to 120hz.

Try raising your crossover to 80-100 hz. Your smaller speakers should be able to go a little louder if they're not trying to reproduce a lot of bass.

Awesome, It worked! Thanks guys! Is there a document of some sort explaining how to read specs of a speaker to understand what would be a good purchase in the future?

3rd party measurements are the standard for speakers, unfortunately not a lot of budget measurements (except here at AH where James has), so you have to trust the manufacturer.

There are plenty of articles on the main site. Take a gander and post any questions you may have and we can answer them.

Good luck and enjoy the journey...

@Toy BTW when you say you had your level at -12 during the setup routine, what particularly are you referring to? Sub trim level? Or speaker trim level? Not familiar with how your Denon works in that regard (but Denons with Audyssey start with the sub level). If it is the sub level that keeps getting set to -12 that's an indication you've set the gain too high for setup (they often say use a half-way point on the gain control on your sub, but IME that's often too much), if this is the issue lower the gain and rerun setup until it is greater than -12 for sub level....
