Denon Remote RC-969 Help!

I have a Denon remote RC-969 for the Denon 3806 AV Receiver. Somehow I locked up the 'Amp' display while messing around after setting up the receiver. On the 'Amp' display, the remote control does not show the source selection or the suround selection buttons. I tried playing and resetting several things. Does anyone have an idea how to restore the selection buttons on the remote? Need help!

Remove the batteries, and reinstall,... should reset.
Do you have the black faced remote or the blue? Most of the black ones have many problems, if yours is black call/e-mail Denon and get it replaced.
Better yet buy a Harmony 680, 676, 659, or HTM MX-500 et al: you'll be much happier. ;)

RobdogC,

You may want to try to reset the remote. You will find the procedure in the Denon 3805 book (page 60).

Good luck,

Or you may need to reset the receiver. The instructions are also in the manual.

I have the blue remote, and it has the following problem: if I turn the receiver on on the unit front panel and turn it off using the remote, the remote locks itself, nothing works and its light doesn`t turn off. The only way to unlock it is by removing the batteries.
Other than that (big problem) it works properly.

I also have the AVR-3805, and RC-969

If I were you I would bring it right back and swap it for a new one. I bought my unit here in Vancouver (Canada) and had the same problem. It was a open box unit so I brought it back after the problem persisted for a few days. if I were you I would bring it back(the unit and all) if at all possible. If not atleast get the remote replaced. Aside from that problem I have been very happy with the unit. My new unit has had no similar problems.

I find when I turn the receiver on with the remote, using the top grey buttons, it will turn off with the top grey button..if I turn the unit on pushing the button on the receiver, it will not turn off on the remote. MOST OF THE TIME. not all of the time. I am constantly having to take a battery out to turn it off.

No matter how you slice it: THIS REMOTE SUCKS BAD!!!!

I am on my third one already. Gone through at least $50 worth of batteries.

These suggestions to buy a universal remote really bother me. i shouldn't have to BUY anything else. This receiver cost $1500 and the remote should be trouble free. PERIOD. Denon really blew it. Shame on you.

I wonder if the good folks at Denon read these forums. if they do. I suggest another update. Maybe third time lucky.

True, you shouldn't have to buy a universal remote, but you have to realize that remotes are an afterthought for most brands. They often outsource that work and they often suck.

So you can resist buying a good universal on principle and continue to suffer or you can go get yourself an MX-350/500/650 or the like and all of your remote control problems will be a thing of the past.

The remotes I mentioned are all made by Univeral Remote Control: http://www.hometheatermaster.com.

The MX-350/650/850 are in the Custom/Professional products 'Complete Control' section. I currently have the MX-350 ($125).

Their 'Consumer line' URC-100/200/300' are very similar to the MX-350 with only a few different features and are cheaper than the MX series.

The MX-500 is probably the best bang for the buck now as they can be found online (http://www.bluedo.com or http://www.surfremotecontrol.com) for under $80. That was my first HTM remote and it is excellent. I gave it to a family member just so I could try out the MX-350. It can be found under the Custom/Professional menu item 'Home Theater Master Products' section.

You can download the manuals for any of them from the site. I can give you the rundown on the slight differences between models if you decide you'd like to get one and can't decide between models.
