I've got the previous year's unit, the 886, which doesn't have the HDMI, but does have component upconversion. They're both nice units, plenty of power for the money and will accommodate any rooms that aren't too large and speakers in the 6-8 Ohm realm relatively easily.
I noticed you "upgraded" from the Yamaha RX-V2500 in a separate post. I am currently using a 2500 in my main setup as a pre/pro and the 886 in a secondary setup. Other than the features you mentioned, I'm not so sure it was an "upgrade" per se, but more of a lateral move w/the newer features.
Either way, I don't think you'll notice a substancial difference between the two as they are both fairly well equipped and robust. Enjoy!
