Hi. was wondering if someone can advise about DENON 1908 and about this maker in general? I am quite new in this stuff, and was going to buy AVR 1908+ DVD 1940. any advise? Thx.

Denon is a good brand. I have a couple Denon receivers and a DVD player. Whether it's right for you depends on what you want to do with it and what features you need. The 1908 is an entry level receiver with most of the basic features you might want. Denon says that it is HDMI 1.3a but doesn't decode the newest HD audio codecs, doesn't do analog to HDMI conversion and doesn't have preouts. http://www.usa.denon.com/ProductDetails/3635.asp

If you want these features, you might want to consider a higher level Denon or something like The Yamaha RX-V663. http://www.yamaha.com/yec/products/productdetail.html?CNTID=567571&CTID=5000300&ATRID=1020&DETYP=ATTRIBUTE

It may also depend on which speakers you are using, how you want the receiver to process the video inputs and what components you want to connect.
