yesterday I had someone auditioning a pair of speakers I was interested in selling. The speakers are a knock off of the triad silver monitors...( I was given the xovers , the cad drawings for the boxes are online and the drivers are not proprietary)...expensive but not propriatary. Sorry, I digress. I was powring these speakers with a denon POA 1500 and a nakamichi CA series pre amp.
Normally I would have used one of my 504's but they were not set up with my sub amp......bottom line. The POA 1500 seems to be a nice musical amp, however to my ears, I was listening to Fresh Aire 1, it sounded a bit veiled
and a bit too laid back. I reconnected using the M504 and things came back to life. I realize that the M504 is rated at, I believe 165 at 8 ohms....the Denon 120 at 8 ohms....but wattage is a relative thing and I'm wondering if this is more an issue of current??? any thoughts?
