Denon menu on 4k tv.

I'm having an issue that I can't find any solution for. Simply put I have a Denon-3808CI receiver that's about 12 years old but works just fine. I recently bought a Sony4k television. The problem is I can't bring up the Denons menu on the tv screen like I used to on my old 2k tv. I need to use the interface on the receiver itself but the instructions really don't explain how to get deeper into the menu using only the GUI. I called Denon but I didn't have any luck in getting any kind of explanation for either issue. Does anyone have any thoughts on why I can't bring up the receiver menu on the tv. I'm trying to get the Denon to play my SACD discs in 5.1 like I used to be able to.

You have a laptop or another monitor with a HDMI port you could try it with?

Do you have the TV input set to the HDMI input to which the Denon is connected?

How is this interfering with playing your discs, tho? Why do you need the avr's gui for playback? What's your player? I use a 3808 with older gear (don't even have a 4k set) so can't duplicate that part but maybe can help somehow....

The old Denon's output 480i for its GUI. Doubt it is compatible with any 4k TV. You will have to connect something else.

The 3808 supports HDMI 1.3a. Like some other older devices, there will be handshake issues if enhanced HDR features are active for the HDMI ports in a new 4K HDR TV. Switching UHD color or Enhanced mode to OFF may fix the issue as it does with some other older devices.

I'll give that a try. Thanks

It won't play my discs at all. I need to access the menu to engage 5.1 option. Just can't get to that option anymore.

What player, how connected, what particular sound mode do you want? You do have 5.1 for other sources already?
