Does anyone know how or where to get a firmware update for my Denon 755S (1910)?!?!? I have looked on the Denon website and the drop down menu for updates doesn't include my model or the 1910. Any suggestions!?!?

I just heard there was a macroblocking issue with these that was addressed with a firmware release.

i just got 1910 about a week ago and haven't had any issues so far. How are you liking it on the sony CRT by the way? I have it on a mitsu diamond rptv and love it.

yes, except the 755 is silver. the remote shouldn't say 1910 on it though.. it's got it's own model designation.

PQ is nothing short of amazing - I see detail in the movies that I never saw before with other players ( I have bought and returned several players prior to the Denon, including the Toshiba 5970).

My only reason for looking for frimware is because if there is an updated firmware out there - I want it!

This is from the DVD Benchmark review of the 1910. If macrobloking is an issue with your display it will never be fixed by any firmware upgrade.

"The unfortunate side of implementing the FLI2301 chip is the presence of the “macroblocking” problem. This manifests itself as blotches of digital noise mainly in backgrounds. This noise is essentially an enhancement of MPEG artifacts that are already inherent in the DVD transfer, but at times grossly exaggerated. In our study of the problem, we have found that the end user’s display plays a key role in the issue. It seems that displays that have their own necessary internal scalers tend to exaggerate the problem to almost unwatchable levels. This has been most noticeable with plasma displays, with an emphasis on the popular Panasonic line. Bottom line is, be wary of coupling this player with a display that has to do its own scaling inside. I would recommend hooking up the player to a similar display, or under ideal circumstances, to your own display before purchasing. If you don’t have that option, I would make sure the store you buy from has a good return policy."
