You have to assign i.link to a particular input in the Yamaha. Also, you need to ensure you have i.link enabled in the DVD-5900.

Sorry about remaining anonomys but I cannot get my name and password to work. I have done what you suggested already. States on the Yamaha "Cannot Connect', however the light on the Denon is on indicating there is a connection from the Denon viewpoint. Tried another firewire. Same results.

DENON 5900 review

I had read all I could find on this new unit, compared to the Pioneer DV-59AVi it is 1000$ more expensive and not certain it has the extra value.
I also got very unlucky. My first unit had major freeze problem. But I dealt with a great local store and my unit was replace very rapidely by a new unit. I am using this unit with The SHARP XV-Z12000 projector DVI connected directly. I like this feature. I still need to finalize my calibration but the black appears not to be as dark whit the DVI connector then with the RGB.

Musically nice and smooth sound, but I don,t understand it doesn't paly some CD,s ( Micheal Bublé) won't play.

The set up menu is quite elaborate, even too compelx for my daily use, since I have the Denon playing on the new ANTHEM D1 Statement pro-preamp which is loaded with feature and up- bit conversion.

Ismore expensive the the Pioneer, but so far I have not been dissapointed, except for the first unit, by the way it is noted at the back this unit is manufactured in China.... this was a minus for me. AT this price it should have been made in Japan, and maybe it could have alleivated the defective unit in the first place.

Would I recommend it... ??? I have been a fan, of Denon for the past product, but this one is a slight draw back... try and listen to Pioneer ,Sorry Denon. Your unit is a bit pricey.

Denon DVD-5900 vs. Pioneer DV-59

I own none of these players but have been following the reviews in various mags and online. The Sept 2004 issue of Stereophile Ultimate AV (prev. known as SGTHT) compared Denon DVD-5900 vs. Pioneer DV-59 (and two other units, V and Ayre). Thomas J. Norton concluded that, essentially, there was very little diff between the DVD-5900 and DV-59 VISUALLY. Audio-wise, the DV-59 surpassed the DVD-5900 by a pretty wide margin (for both DVD-As and SACDs). Stereophile editors, like many in the review industry, also biased by their advertisers and other politics. But I did like the side-by-side comparative-review format, as they did with these units.

Has anyone else compared these units?

We'll try to get one from Pioneer for review at CEDIA. There are some pretty progressive products coming out of that company.

Denon 5900 DVI Setup

Sorry If I'm starting this out the incorrect way but I'm having a bit of trouble with my new DVD player. Help!!!

I'm trying to setup my 5900 to use the DVI output to my Infocus projector. When I scroll through the modes DVI does not come up. I get the SACD, FILTER, and Pure Direct but not the DVI Setup? Does anyone have any idea where it went? Yes, I'm definitely a rookie..
