Denon DVD 5900 to AVR 5803 audio connections

If I connect these units using the 8-cable multichannel hookups for SACD and the Denon Link for all other audio, is the digital coax or optical cable necessary?

I thought the Denon link was for digital hookup of dvd-a and sacd.........? This is one of the FEW combinations that allows the digital hookup.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Then, I'd say yes..........you still need to use the digital coax or optical for movies.

The D link plays DVD-A. SACD only plays thru analog cables: 6 cables for 5.1 or 8 for 7.1 system.
