I need your help 2910 gurus.... this is a bit puzzling to me. I don't have this issue when listening through digital connection at all. This player is new.

** Why does the subwoofer sound like a whimper when listening through the analog audio output (for SACD & DVD-A)?? The display says all the speakers are active too. HDMI audio setup is set on 2CH. I have set the sub to +10db through their setup and it still sounds very low! I know its not the cables 'cause I'm using BlueJeans multi-channel cables. The sub is Axiom's EP-600.

Any idea what I need to do on the setup to get the subwoofer sound up for multi-channel analog output? I'm using Yamaha's RX-V2400 with this player, and all the connections seems fine. Me thinks I'm overlooking something in the notes on page 16 of the manual. Any help is appreciated... THANKS!

Are the speakers set to small on the 2910? That makes a world of difference.

I'll check my settings this evening and post back, but I don't have that issue cropping up myself, using either the digital coax or 5.1 analog.

Bryan...another thought: have you tried the DVD-A using the digital feed?

The 2200 had a +10dB function. If the 2910 does also, which I would guess it does, you need to turn this on. It is specifically for hires audio via analog. For DD/DTS streams there is an automatic +10dB offset built into the decoding, but this does not apply to hires music. That should solve the problem.

Yes, the speakers are set to small... and I did turn on the Subwoofer with +10dB setting, but with no avail. I think I screwed up somewhere in the Audio setup option.... I think this speaker and sub setting is useless through the player for a reason... darn it, I need to study the manual I think! :p

flyv65, if you can check your setting and let me know that will be great.

All your input and help is appreciated.... need to figure this out before I bang my head on the wall! I betcha its something really screwy simple! :D

seriously..the 2910 pumps out enormous bass. One of your settings must be off.

In your receiver, there should be an 'EXT. IN sub level" setting..it might be called something else, I have a Denon 3805 and that's what it's called..check that.

Make sure in the setup for the 2910 that under the audio setup menu, source direct is turned off and bass enhancer is turned on. When source direct is turned on, the 2910 cuts the subwoofers feed to the receiver reguardless of if you have the sub turned on or notin the options; even if your speakers are set to small. Also check your receiver's setup and make sure that the EXT-IN sub is set as high as it goes; IE +15 or +10 maybe. Most modern receivers have this function.

Damn... this was IT! Looks like I fiddled with the Source Direct option after setting the speakers to 'small', and guess what... everytime I turned on the Source Direct the speakers were defaulting to 'Large'! I had to go back and turn it back to 'small' after turning the Source Direct off. It didn't occer to me that I had to go back and check the speaker setting after fiddling with the Source Direct. Thanks a ton chrisdogmlb for the insight!! :)
Johnny Canuck.. your suspicion was right! :)

Case solved... I knew it had to be something dumb! :D

Two questions about it:
1) Bass enhancer works supposedly only for 2 ch stereo (meaning the sub is active while playing 2 ch) - RIGHT ?
2) What happens when you set this EXT.IN +15db option in the receiver
and then SACD/DVD-A +10db option in Audio setup 2910, will the result (for hi-res analog playback) be cumulative +25db ?

And the side/related question: if I set 80hz X-over in my multi-ch setup (2910) and then 80Hz X-over on the receiver's setup, would they interfere somehow ?
