My home has speakers installed in 3 areas, I recently lost my reciever and amp due to a lightening strike. I'm looking at these 2 receivers as replacements for the Integra DTM 5.3 and Audiosource Amp300 that got zapped. Other suggestions are welcome and my budget is around $350. Looking to use some older equipment for value reasons.
I have 4 SoundCraft AIM series in the ceiling of the living room, a pair of Klipsch outside(KHO-7?), and 2 rectangular speakercraft ceiling speakers in my family room. The likely setup will be just 2 zones. Inside vs outside.
If I have this right, the Sherwood is built to push 4 pairs of speakers with no preamp outputs, and the Denon will push 2 pairs with it's onboard amp and has preamp output for external amplification for the other 2 zones.
I guess my main question is whether the Sherwood amp section is robust enough to actually push the 4 pairs of speakers I have. If so, it would eliminate the need for another amp.
Or should I go for the Denon and add the external amps? I won't be listening to it very loud, mostly background.
Thank you for helping, and as I suggested earlier, I'm open to other suggestions within my budget. I've found the Denon for $220, the Sherwood for $150.
Forgot to mention that I have IM VC's in all areas, and will be controlling the setup through the remotes on my Sirius Conductor(Z wave) and my Squeezebox Duet(RF).
The conductor has an IR blaster which I will use to control the chosen receiver. All equipment is hidden in my closet.
