This Denon 870W 7.1-channel speakers-receiver-DVD player package is at Best Buy for $660. I was planning on buying the 5.1-channel Athena Technologies Micra 6 speakers ($300 at Best Buy) and Onkyo TX-SR602 7.1-channel receiver ($350 at Circuit City), and using my current cheapie DVD/VCR combo for a while. Any recommendations for one vs the other (or something entirely different)? I just saw the Onkyo 7.1-channel HT-S780 (speakers and receiver) at Circuit City for $450 total and purchasers gave it great reviews. Would this be better than buying separately the Onkyo TX-SR602 receiver and the Micra 6 speakers?

Bump! I could also use some advice on this.

I personally would recommend that you buy a receiver instead of a box system. Most box systems do not have enough inputs for upgrades in the future. Quite often in the box system there is a weak link, sometimes its the receiver and other times it is the speakers. If you buy them seperately you get a good receiver and the option to buy the speakers you like.
