This receiver can be had for some killer deals right now, anyone have any experience with it? There are also great deals on the 1907, but all it really has is a touch more power, 10 w/channel...about $100 or so more...

I'm wide open to other suggestions in that price range as well ($300-$500). I have read GREAT things about NAD, but I'm having a hard time finding their stuff in my price range, even used...

I don't need HDMI switching, and only need 5.1, and of course want it to sound GREAT with music...The 2nd zone feature is nice on the Denons too, but not totally necessary.

I am looking at it to drive a KEF 2005.2 set possibly...

Thanks!

Mike

The 1907 has pre-outs that allows you to add an external amplifier. The %difference in price between the 1907 and 1707 is less than that between the 1707 and the 1507. I would say if you don't think you will ever add an amplifier in the future, then the 1507 is a better deal for you.

On a power/feature per dollar basis, the 1907 seems to be the sweet spot in the whole Denon line up.

I've got the AVR-1705 and I'm quite happy with it. It has plenty of power.

BTW, if you're driving at 75 watts, 10 more watts gets you less than 1 extra decibel of sound.

The lowest prices I have found are...

1507 - $258
1707 - $285
1907 - $365

For the extra few bucks, I would definitely go with the 1707, and most likely just go to the 1907 for the pre amp outputs and the bit of extra power...

Hmmm...just got a bit tougher...

1907 shipped will be $375, but I found a Refurb 2106 for $400 shipped...more power (100w/channel as opposed to 85), but,its a Refurb, and its an older model...

Check out the Yamaha RX-V659 and HTR-5960 models in your price range. I have also seen some great Ubid deals for refurbished RX-V2500 and RX-V1600s for <$500.

Sorry, my numbers were based on the list prices. So it looks like the 1507/1707 have much better street prices.
