Does anyone have any knowledge as to which receiver is better between the Denon AVR-x3100W and the Yamaha RX-V777BT. Don't look at price because they're similar there. It's all the specs that I'm interested in. One of the main things I'm looking at is volume control level when changing TV stations or source input. I like the same even volume when making the change as it blaring loud. I've been trying to find website comparisons as to no avail. If someone has an opinion or better yet hands-on info please let me know. I'm very indecisive as to which one to purchase or is there any other suggestions similar.

Just to add in the AVR should be geared more for Home Theatre as opposed to music.

Both AVR's will have input level adjustments for individual source inputs to allow you to normalise the volumes. As far as the volume difference between TV stations goes; some experimentation with the Denon's Audyssey Reference Level Offset (10dB recommended for TV) and Dynamic Volume settings should address this issue satisfactorily. I'm unaware if the Yamaha has any similar facility.

Personally, in a matchup I take Denon over Yamaha every time, mainly because I'm a devotee of Audyssey MultEQ and it's associated Dynamic EQ processing. If Yamaha ever partners up with Audyssey (highly unlikely), it would be a very close call.

This side-by-side compo might help: Crutchfield | Denon AVR-X3100W vs Yamaha RX-V777BT.

Good luck with your deliberations! :)

The Denon X3100 is $1K new.

The Denon X4000 is $800 new.

Absolutely get the X4000 over both of those AVRs.
