I have been hunting for a new AV Receiver. I've had my eye on the Onkyo NR636 and Sony DN1050. During some reviews today I see Crutchfield and Amazon have this on sale for a stellar price $399.

The specs look good and comparable to the Sony and Onkyo.

Thoughts??

Marantz and Denon are owned by the same company. You generally get more features at a certain price point with Denon, but Marantz gets the beefier guts. I haven't done a side-by-side comparison of Marantz + Denon AVRs, but I am thoroughly pleased with the sound from my Marantz.

Marantz vs. Yamaha, if customer satisfaction is any indication, you really can't go wrong with either. I prefer Audyssey room correction in Marantz units over the YPAO correction of Yamaha, simply because Audyssey is better documented and I know it works reasonably well.

Re: the SR5009, if you don't need HDMI 2.0 or wifi connectivity, you could save some money and get last year's SR5008.

Bluetooth is a feature I could go for. But I could do without it if I can control the system from an app on my phone since it would be connected to the same local network. I don't need Wifi as the install location will have a CAT 5E cable.

I don't need HDMI2.0 at the moment only have a 55" 1080p Plasma. But I'm sure I'll end up with a new 4K screen over the next 5years. So I'd like the AVR to have future compatibility.

Also most products from Accessories4Less are refurbed. You don't have any concerns with a company certified refurb product ?

Thanks for the help I'm going to look over the Marantz and Yamaha manuals later tonight.
