I have a AVR 1604/684 I got over a year ago.
Yesterday I noticed that I'm not getting any sound from my center speaker, I know the speaker works and it will work with the Tuner on in 5 channel stereo but it dosen't work with any of the surround setting.
Can anyone think of something else I can check? And the warrenty is over and there isn't a repair center for out of warrenty products for 300 miles or more. Can I just take it to a electronics repair or should I just get a new receiver (NOT A DENON) since you can't get them repaired unless you live in New Jersey it says dropoff at there repair center only. I wish someone would have posted this for prospective buyers.:(
Can someone suggest a good receiver 5-1 for around 300 bucks must be THX

What is the source you use which causes the center to be silent. Does it work during movies? Are you using the analog multi-channel inputs? Maybe the audio cable is shot. Try switching this out before you condem the receiver. If it works in 5 ch stereo mode with the tuner, there is no reason to believe your receiver is the culprit.

Well I messed with it again and checked all the wireing, It seams to work ok when a HD program or Dolby Digital signal is being broadcast. Maybe its the HR10-250 receiver, But I do notice that it used to switch to another audio feed in the receiver before. like its DD when a dolby signal is coming in then it would switch to a different audio when a commercial came on now it dosen't do that anymore.

Center channel

You need a Dolby Digital (or DTS) signal from sound from the center channel. When you get a 2.0 analog signal, your receiver might be using a dolby pro-logic mode to send audio to the frond and surround channels.
