Denon AVR Pre Amp Question

Excuse my ignorance, but can someone explain the Pre amp out on my Denon receiver. I have a Denon AVR 2400 (few years old) and am using it for music listening only in 5.1. I have polk RT 800's for mains and have read that they are power hogs. Rears are RT55's, and center is CSI45. Sub is psw350.

When listening to music, moderate volume is achieved at around -10. Is there any way I can use another 2 channel amp to push them? I have two older Yamaha amp's which I no longer use (Yamaha RX-495) (Yamaha R-300).

Sorry for the ignorance, but my familiarity with pre/pro or preamp is very limited.
Thanking you in advance for any help.

Pick up a standard L/R RCA cable. Plug them into the L/R preamp out jacks on the back of your Denon and the other ends into the new 2-channel amp. Hook the speakers up to the 2-channel amp. If your receiver has a 12v trigger, use a 3.5mm cable between the amp and receiver. Do not plug the 2-channel amp into the back of your receiver. That's pretty much it.

Thank you to all who replied. Your responses were clear, concise and to the point and I now have the information I was seeking. Looks like my old Yamaha's will be relegated to the garage. Thanks again!
