denon avr 987 and avr 2807 ?

hi all i am a new memeber to this forum but have found reading your posts very informative.i just bought a denon avr 987 open box at circut city for 850.00 .my qustion is ,i was reading the spec's for the 987 and and the 2807 on denon's site and they look the same .am i missing something:confused: why would they make the same avr twice with diiferent model numbers? thanks for your help :D

The only two differences I could see on their website is that they are different colors and the remotes are different models. That's it!!

I did a little more digging and found this topic discussed here:

They were saying that Denon is phasing out the 2807 and replacing it with the 987. Cosmetics and remote are the only difference.

Receiver lines

My understanding is that Denon has two comparable lines of receivers similar to Yamaha (RX-V and HTR). One line is sold through B&M delaers and customer installers (Yamaha RX-V) while the other (Yamaha HTR) is available through authorized online dealers and big box stores like Circuit City. The Yamaha receiver lines are both built in the same factory with the same parts and they slap a difference cover plate on the front.

Enjoy the new Denon, should have plenty of power and features for your HT.
