In the review of the new Integra Pre-Pro, is states that the 5805 will receive an upgrade to allow component to HDMI conversion and that the A11XV will have this from go.

Could I ask if this is definately correct and if a timeframe for this has been indicated by Denon both for the upgrade and when new units will have it from the factory ?

many thanks.

If it weren't correct, I wouldn't have printed it ;) This should happen sometime shortly after the 4806 is released. My review sample doesn't have this but rest assured it eventually will.

No forklift but I definately recommend a two person install. I moved it myself and felt my last hernia operation come slightly undone

Need a hand? or two or six....

Quite impressive....

it's like the Ferrari of all A/V Receivers!

It looks bigger than my Microwave! man o' man! I pity the delivery guys!

Honestly, it's nice to see a company like Denon offer something a little bit more unique with cutting edge tech. and with enough features to make even the most discriminate buyer drool! :) :)

I can't afford it (maybe if i sold the my wife's engagement ring? humm.....) but eventually some of the technology behind it will trickle to more affordable units. In short, we all win.

Can't wait to see the review!

Thanks,

Gene,

What type of buyer is Denon looking for here? Wouldn't most who have this sort of disposable income go for separates in this price range? I wonder how many they plan on selling. A lot is resting on the reviewers like yourself. I know you can't answer this, but worth a shot... Would you buy this for its list price over separates???

Denon 5805

It's gorgeous.
I could buy it, but I think that would drive my wife over the deep end.
Maybe if I win the lottery?
I would dare to wager the 5805 pre-amp alone against the high end seperate processors, and the 5805 would out perform them.
:)

I'm guessing that since this unit seems so very capable in it's multi-tasking, multi-room capabilities that it won't appeal to the discriminating, sit-in-the-sweetspot sort of buyer, but more the type of person who is looking at it as a one-box solution for good, whole-house music and multi-room HT.

If you think of it as less of a "standard receiver" and more of a "heart" for a whole-house installation, it's existance seems more practical.

Actually with the Audyssey MultEQ system, there is no need for a single sweet spot. How about 8? :)

Seriously, the preamp section alone in this "Receiver" is amazing and its bass management system, second to none!

The amp section is the most robust I have tested in a receiver to date and can compete comfortably with many dedicated 7CH amps in the $2-3k price range.

You mention some power output figures in the article. Are these all channels driven?

All channels driven is an unrealistic test condition and we don't do those measurements. If the power supply in the amp has the capability of delivering the full 15A line than all you are doing is testing line sag, not the power delivery of the amplifier. The 5805 has an ample power supply to consume what the wall will deliver so no worries there.

My tests were with 2CH driven, though I just ran 4CH driven for biamp mode and got about 175wpc into 8 ohms as I watched my line sag from 124Vrms to 119Vrms.

Denon 5805

Here's my 2 cents.
Considering the performance of both the pre-amp and the amp of the Denon 5805, I would consider it a very good deal cost wise.
I think much more could be spent on seperates and still not out perform the 5805.
I'll probably get beat up for saying so.

Not after you see the measurements I am getting for the review :) The preamp section is the best I have measured to date!
