Denon AVR-5803 or Pioneer VSX-59txi Elite?

Looking at 2 older flagship receivers, and which one of these 2 receivers would you recommend, the Pioneer VSX-59txi Elite and the Denon AVR-5803? I have a chance to buy either one for roughly the same price.Which is the better performer? Thanks, Keith.

Of course the Denon 5803. That was Gene's fav AVR from back then.

In that review he said he was considering it but in the AVR-5805 review he repeated virtually the same:

"Towards the end of the year when my new home theater room is completed, I will consider integrating a Denon AVR-5805 into my primary reference system. "

So I don't think he went ahead with the 5803, and might, or might not have follow through with the 5805 either. My guess is, he ended up going with the AVP-A1HDCI and some power amp to match.

Yea but I spent years rooting for the little guy, being the beta tester, debugger. It's not all roses. I was happy to dump my Aragon Soundstage SSP for a Denon AVR-5803.
