I have had a Sony Bluray player / 5.1 surround sound for a couple of years. The other day at a thrift store I bought a Denon AVR-486 7.1 receiver. I will be using 1 of the systems in the bedroom, a small room, and the other in our medium sized living room.
My question is given the age of the Denon will it be better or worse than the Sony since it will have 7 speakers? Sony is currently hooked to smart tv via hdmi. Denon would have to be connected with optical audio cable.
