Good Day,

I have narrowed my receiver choice down to the above two receivers and am looking for feedback regarding the comparison between the two, matching components for either and possible any other suggestions of product matching the features of these two.

At present I already understand the Denon has one extra HDMI input but has 10 watts per channel less power than the Marantz. Specifically I am interested in any info regarding the components that are in each as well as opinions of the matching DVD players Denon VS Marantz.

Any feedback is appreciated.

A friend of mine has a full 7.1 setup of Paradigm including the sub with a Denon 3803 and the sound is stunning. I can't imagine something sounding better. I would have bought the Paradigms if I hadn't got such a steal on my Polk setup. I am running a 3805 right now. I can tell you Paradigm/Denon is an amazing match. I've only heard Marantz with Canton and Magnapan - soft/sweet and superb quailty with audio. Can't wait to see both of those units bench tested in the coming months.

Get the Denon. That model has the Audessey MultEq Speaker/Room correction and calibration functions. Nothing else on the market can currently touch this recvr (and the 5805) for this reason. MultEQ will eventually appear in other brands and lower priced recvrs but for now it's only available on 2 Denon models and it's impressive.

Did you know D&M Holdings now own Marantz ? (they own Denon and McIntosh) Wonder if they are using the same circuitry as in the Denon? Interesting - I bet they are laughing all the way to the bank (In Tokyo) seeing us debate over their products. Remember when McIntosh was the respected brand in the US?

The AVR-4806 isn't even available in the US yet. I see no mention of it on the Denon Web site.

Mitch, the denon website is the worst I've seen in the CE industry but the 4806 will be available in April according to Denon's press releases.

Buckeye, I imagine the MultEq will show up in Marantz and McIntosh eventually. I've also heard rumors that Sony and one other brand (I can't remember which) will be getting it. The problem is it could be a long wait since none of the brands have made any official anouncements (that I can find)...so I'm guessing this is something we will see at CES next year. I just purchased a new recvr before CES this year, my mistake...my next recvr will have this technology...it almost is good as the DEQX correction processor that is currently only available in 2-ch and much much more expensive.

Thanks for the input I am definately looking harder at the Denon now.

Any thoughts on DVD players and when Denon will launch HD-DVD players?
