Denon AVR 4806 not working with Satellite

I tried attaching my satellite reciever to my new Denon 4806. My satellite does not have an HDMI output - it only has a DVI-output. I purchased an HDMI/DVI cable and hooked up the DVI-output of my reciever to the HDMI input slot on my AV4806. I then proceeded to insert an HDMI cable from the 4806 (output) to the HDMI input of my Panasonic TH-50PX500U HDTV. When I turned on the reciever and the TV, there was no video. The TV's video output was set to HDMI but still no picture showed up. I tried changing the channels of my 4806 from TV to CD to DVD, etc but nothing worked. When I tried hooking up my satellite directly to my TV (DVI to HDMI) everything worked, no problems.
Can anyone help me and tell me how to get my satellite dish working with my AVR 4806?
Thank you!

Since the Denon 4806 has a dvi input why not use that instead of a conversion connector? Just asking. Also what Sat box are you using? There have been many questions about this issue since the recent release of av units that can switch hdmi. Seems to be a hdmi version conflict issue with older cable/sat boxes and newer av units. Perhaps they will upgrade their units firmware if that could fix it im not sure, might be a hardware issue. Your denon can upconvert to hdmi and therefore you should be able to use component input and output via hdmi if you wanted to do that, at this time I have not seen much resolution for this issue seems either it is compatible or not and the mfgs are suggesting using different inputs or direct connections to get around this for now.

I have been watching this unfold recently on different forums as the hdmi switching units become more available these issues have been coming up more often. It does not seem to be specific to a brand I have heard of the new Pioneer Elite models having the same conflicts with cable boxes specifically the motorola mostly but not exclusively. Im using a HD 811 from Dish but have not connected it to my av yet since im remodeling my ht room and currently have no display to connect yet. Im hoping the next round of hd boxes/ dvr etc will be more compliant or the AV mfgs will do a little more testing before their next release..

I don't have a Denon receiver, but, on my receiver, I had to change the setting from TV, to DBS before my sat worked. My sat isn't HD, but it may be the same type of setup in your receiver.
Good luck!

You are having issues with the HDCP

HDCP (High Definiation Copy Protection) both Panasonic and Denon are working on the problem. I have seen service bullitions for both. Your th50px500u can get its firmware updated by the PC card in the front. I would suggest calling panasonic and see if they can help. Also try emailing denon contactservice@denonnj.com I know of a couple work arounds for the xvs series but none for the px500 good luck
