Denon AVR-4806 Discontinued?

My Onkyo TX-NR900 died last week and I've been shopping for a new reciever.

Should I fork over $2300 for a Denon AVR-4806 or wait for its replacement? I still have an old Onkyo TX-SR800 I was using for my backyard speakers that I could use temporarily for my home theater.

What to do...

Thank you!

About the discontinued title:
When I spoke with a salesmen at SoundAdvice he mentioned the model was discontinued (hence the price).

The 4806 will be replaced by the 4806CI and not too long after by another model. A 4806 for 2300 is a hell of a good deal. I'd snatch that up as fast as you could.

Anybody know what the difference is between the AVR-4806 & the AVR-4806CI? (other than $500)

Denon's website is extremely vague

That is about it. No other substantial changes that I've been able to see. Scaling remians the same, it just allows 1080p to pass right now. The ethernet connectivity allows your to stream music to your 4806, play internet radio stations and access setup menus via your web browser.

Thanks for the replies. I'm hesitant to buy anything without 1080P HDMI/HDCP support even though I don't have a 1080P display. I'm waiting for the new Sony model. Maybe I should hold off for a few more months. Doing so will be hard because I hate my old 5.1 Onkyo.

Any more input from all you audio gurus?

Hopefully Denon will offer a HDMI 1.3 upgrade down the road.

That is incorrect this unit scales all signals to 1080p if desired. Not much use for me since my projector is 720p but keeps things a little future proof in case i find a 1080p projector that does more than 800 lumens and isn't priced like a car.

4806ci

Well, I forked over the cash for the Denon 4806CI. I bought an open box from Crutchfield for $3600. This device is excellent. I love the fact that I can bi-amp so easily. Another great feature is the HDMI/HDCP support. I have not had a chance to try it out yet as I don't have a TV that supports HDMI. I'm going to SoundAdvice this weekend to look at the new Sony KDS-A2000. If I can just convince my wife into getting it  .

Yup, I'm a happy man.
