So I am now considering Denon AVR-4810 as I can get it for around $1900. But number of people have noted that I should consider AVR-4311, what is everyone's thoughts on this?

Personally I'd go with the AVR-4311 due to the new features that I would use such as 9.2 and airplay plus the new audessy, but both will serve you well

It would seem, based on your features needs, the 4311 is more than sufficient. I look at the 4311 as a slightly watered down 4810; less inputs, lesser amp assignage capability, but spec'ed for 4 ohm usage, upgraded Audyssey system, HDMI 1.4 spec'ed, 3D capable.

The 4311 has a feature I've not seen on any AVR before. You can shut off the internal amp and use it as a prepro - this negates the heat issue so many dislike about using an AVR as a prepro. It certainly has enough features to make it worthy of consideration as an AVR or prepro.

I don't think most receivers that aren't hooked up to speakers create that much heat. Heat is created when forcing the internal amps to drive speakers.

Yamaha's RX-Z7 has that feature too.

That's automatic so it wouldn't qualify as a feature, since that's just how the receiver operates.
You may be right but I did read the 4311's manual about the feature and could not find instructions to turn the preamp off. So I wonder if it is automatic too.

Yeah...it would appears the 43xx have replaced the 38xx series? Too bad because the 38xx was a stop gap from their higher end models...I don't know if I care much for the newer 33xx models but that's just me. I would go with the 4810...fwiw:).

Would you say that Denon AVR-4311 best compares to Yamaha RX-A2000 or A3000? And which you like more?
