Hi guys I really need some help. I really want a receiver that will allow me to run two different hdmi outputs at once. Furthermore, I want each hdmi output to be able to stream different types of output simultaneously. Restated, I want one hdmi output to stream video from a dvd player and the second hdmi output to stream video from a xbox 360 at the same time. This latter requirement matters the most to me. I know this receiver has dual hdmi outputs. However, I can't figure out whether this receiver will allow me to send different signals out each output or only allow me to send identical video out each hdmi at the same time. I want to hook the receiver up to two different tvs each of which is located in different rooms. I have researched this issue extensively and can not find any guidance. I would really appreciate it if I could get some help from this community. Thanks

The 4308 will only do zone 2 multi-source video over composite/S-video/component video.

The brand new model Denon model AVR-5308CI has two HDMI outputs but is pricey at around $5K... It has more bells and whistles than you should ever need -- but good luck finding it - it's that new - and the places I see online are taking pre-orders only. ;)

I would suggest you download the manual from Denon - here is the link: http://usa.denon.com/AVR-4308CI-OM-E_004.pdf

I currently have the 3808CI and I discovered an odd limitation this weekend that had me scrathcing my head all weekend long. It turns out that all digital and HDMI input sources can only output to the main zone, they cannot be output to multiple zones. Unlike the 4308ci, the 3808ci only has one HDMI output, so I know I can't output video to multiple displays like the 4308 can. However, I can't understand why it can't let you output the audio from an HDMI input source to other zones. But, that is how it is built. Fortunately, I was able to connect RCA cables as well as HDMI cables to my sources and I can output the analog audio to the other zones, but this is far from elegant IMO.

Having had Denon they are great. I reviewed and researched other options and went the Onkyo TX-NR905, less cost better video proccesing, THX Ultra 2 and 2 hdmi outs. I suggest you check this model out.

The two HDMI outs cannot be used at the same time and function only in the main zone. There are very few receivers that will output a digital signal to the secondary zones. The latest Pioneer Elite models (94?) and the new Flagship models from Denon, Pioneer & Yamaha may do digital to secondary zones I can't remember.

Before I bought my Onkyo I spoke with Lonnie at Emotiva to ask if they were incorporating this feature in their new processors. He said they were not and it would add a great deal of cost to the product. He explained the technical reasons why but it has been too long for me to acurately describe it hear. Needless to say I am still running analog to have music in my other zones and the dream of a single cable is still away in the future.
