Like many people I am waiting for a review for the Denon AVR-4306 Receiver and I am wondering if I should just purchase the Yamaha RX-V2600 instead? My questions is, is it possible and/or will Denon produce updates/patches for the AVR-4306 to update HDMI 1.1 to HDMI 1.2 and so on? I have heard this receiver is one of the best for connecting your PC besides the pricey AVR-4806. I just do not want to drop the 2 Grand and find out 6 months down the road my receiver is stuck with HDMI 1.1 and will not be able to support 1080p...

Receivers with HDMI

I doubt that Denon, Yamaha, or other manufacturers will be offering firmware updates to upgrade the version of HDMI on anything short of their flagship models. 1080p, in perticular, requires twice the video bandwidth of 720p and 1080i so there may be hardware limitations with the current crop of receivers.

You concerns about HDMI are valid. You might consider buying a Denon 3805 for about $700. In a year or two, 1080p displays and sources will actually be available and HDMI will be more mature making it a good time for a receiver upgrade.
