denon AVR-3808 hook up to sony 36XBR800

if I hook up a denon 3808 to my sony 36XBR800 will I see any difference in the picture I only have reg DVD and reg Direct TV Im planning on getting a new tv in a few months or sooner I looked at some of the panasonic 50 plasma and in reg Direct tv mode did not look all that great I think mine looks better

The 3808 will upconvert your standard definition sources to the resolution of your liking. That said, don't expect miracles. It will look better. It will not look like high def.

what is best conection I think MY tv has DVI and s video would you run the direct tv box into the 3808 if so witch cables then to the TV ?

and would you run the reg DVD player to the 3808 then to the tv ?

Try a DVI to HDMI cable from your receiver to your current TV. Just don't buy a Monster video cable for $100. Check out monoprice:
