Denon AVR-3805 Help Setup 7.1 Operation

Does someone have some pointers for setting up 7.1 sterio operation on the AVR-3805.

I have tried several times to setup 7.1 operation. Yesterday the receiver actually engaged and operated with 7.1 operation until the unit was shut down. After cycling the power the receiver has defaulted back to 5.1 operation. I have not had any luck getting 7.1 sterio functioning again.

Speakers Attached: 2-front, 1-center, 2-surround-A, 2-surround back

On the remote set to to surround, hit the cinema, music, or game button to turn on the Dolby Pro Logic IIx processing. Dolby PLIIx should show up on the display.

On page 32 in your manual, you need to follow the steps to select your configuration. It's 2.1 "Speaker Configuration". Check to see if you have your Sp A, Sp B and Sp Back on or off. Sp B should be turned off unless you are running a 9.1 setup in your main room and using Sp B for surround music. Be sure your 6th and 7th speakers are plugged into the Sp Back and not Sp B. Proper processing is dependent on what speakers are on or off.

Sounds like Protection mode Kicking IN

Sounds like one of the speakers activated in 7.1 mode and not 5.1 mode is tripping the protection circuitry. First thing that I'd double check is that there are no wires crossing over at anypoint and that the wires aren't damaged somewhere in the run.
