Denon AVR-3805 DTS problem

Hey guys I'm new at this....

I'm using a dvd player that has dts funtions. I have setup my new amp with optical. Dolby D works fine with 5.1, but I just can't get it to work with DTS. I have tried setting my DVD player to bitstream or PCM no luck.... I have forced it to DTS but then there is no sound.....

Any help would be great.

Are you going into the DVD menu and choosing the DTS version? YOu have to configure the DVD first for it to play DTS. Go to setup on the DVD movie and make sure it isn't set for Dolby.

Refer to page 44 of the 3805 owners' manual regarding the setup of Auto Surround Mode. It is 4.3 in the setup process. Choose "Auto Surround" to enable the reciever to auto detect the type of digital audio it is recieving. Also, your DVD player might have its dts out set to "off". Go into the digital out set up screen and choose dts to be enabled or "on". Hope this helps.
