Denon AVR 3805 Blues (Got them old)

So here I am trying to set up my new home theater. I just bought the Denon 3805 and can't seem to get it to work. I can't get a video signal from my receiver to my TV. I can get a Denon system setup screen from the receiver to the TV but not the cable video picture. My video source is broadband cable with a cable box (Scientific Atlanta for HDTV).

Initially, I had the cable box hooked up to a Tivo box next in line before the Denon receiver and then the TV--no luck getting video even though I used composite cables for each connection from Tivo to the receiver and tried various possble hookups from the receiver to the TV.

I then took out the Tivo box from the system and hooked up the cable box directly to the receiver--no luck here even though I tried all the available options on the back of the cable box which include two different component connections (red, green, blue) and composite connections as well. I also tried various possible hookups from the receiver to the TV, composit and component.

What am a I doing wrong? How do I diagnose the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you set your component in assign? Check page 40-41 of your manual.

I highly recommend drawing a schematic that shows where every single cable is coming and going to.

With how my current set-up is I'm blind once everything is hooked up. I can only guess as to where I plugged in various video/audio sources and it was a pain in the arse.

Just scan or photocopy the picture of the inputs from the manual and map everything out.

It's funny - I rather enjoyed tyring to figure everything out after the initial frustratrion. good luck.
