Denon AVR-3802 + Blu ray?

Have had my denon for many years now without any problems, have also had a multitutde of DVD players connected to it without any problem. Got Samsung BD-P1000 today and it wont for the life of it output 5.1 - comes out in stereo. DTS outputs in silence. Tried DVD's as well and same thing. Tired old player again and fine.

I've contacted Samsung and they don't yet have any support for the Blu ray and will research and come back to me.

Connecting the Samsung to the Denon using the Digital Optial cable as per the instructions.

Does anyone else know of a problem with this setup?

Have you gone through the manual and done all the configurations that are necessary? Is the player's digital audio output set to bitstream instead of PCM? Pg. 40

yeh got it now, unfortunately I updated the firmware in the meantime and now only reads region 1 dvd's - doh!
