Denon avr 3802 7 chanel stereo?

Anyone know if its better when watching a dvd to run system as 6.1 surround mode or 7 channel stereo? I have 7 speakers plus sub. thanks in advance im just a little confused

Much better to run in 6.1 for movies. That's really surround. 7 channel stereo is just what it says..............stereo. It's just sent to all your speakers. It's not something different coming out of each speaker, like 6.1 is.

all channel stereo is not something that would normally be used with a multichannel track as you would lose the surround and center information. Not a good plan IMO, so it is definitely going to sound better in a normal 6.1 mode.
