Hi All, Just a virgin here so be nice ...just signed up the other day!

I have the denon avr-3312 and have some questions:

1. When I try to update the firmware, it just stays at "Authenticating". I have tried the reset and that with no luck?? denon said it may be my service provider????

2. Can this amp be bi-wired or bi-amped, if so, how do I go about it in the most cost effective way for either option?
PS - currently just have some old Sony speakers that have seen their days, but plan to update soon!, so if you have some tower speaker recommendation at $2-2.5K or under would be appreciated! and would like to tie it all into some surround speakers as well for a 5.1 system (possibly 7.1) recommendations on some rears and center would be great as well! budget there 1K?

I plan on running CL3 12awg in-wall wire to all speakers.

The room is my basement where this will all be going and is about 16' wide and about 20-25' long with 9' ceiling.

any other tricks and options to get best performance from this Denon?

any and all help/recomendations appreciated!
Cheers!

From one Craig to another welcome to the forum.

1) Did you do the networking test from the setup menu to make sure you have an IP address and it is funcitoning? Test to be sure you able to access the streaming services so you know it is getting to the internet.

2) Bi-wiring is done with speaker cable and other than aesthetics does absolutely nothing. Bi-amping on a passive crossover speaker has not shown to do anything but use up extra amps that could power another set of speakers.

As for speaker recommendations 2-2.5K for a pair of towers should put you right in the sweet spot. I would try and find a list of dealers in your area to visit to try and see what you like. If you are interested in on line dealers then I would look at Salk and Philarmonic. Both great companies with many owners that are usually willing to share their house so you can listen.

To get the most from your receiver you are going to want to run Audyssey room correction software. You will notice the receiver came with a microphone that you will place in a variety of seating positions and it will calibrate the unit for your room.
