Happy New Year!!! I have the above "Titled" audio equipment and I would like to connect the system so that I can view the television (Sharp LC-60LE820UN) (Dish Network programming) while playing the Yamaha Compact Disc player (non HDMI unit). I have tried doing this thru the Denon Receiver but have been unable to pull it off. Please help, Thanks in advance!

Refer to Pages 67-70 of your user manual. You need to go to the input setup for that source (CD) and go to the Video -> Video select.

You will need to connect either component cables or composite cables to view the video from the Dish box. For what I can gather you cannot use an HDMI video source with a digital or analog audio source. I could be wrong though as I am not fully versed in Denonspeak.

Denon AVR 3311Cl and Sharp TV

Spoke with Denon folks and they said not possible to due HDMI with component or digital sources due to anti-piracy regulations??? Said that all units had to be either HDMI or all digital/analog in order to have all components properly interact with each other. So according to them, in order to make my request work I'd have to sacrifice my HDMI properties and go ALL composite/digital. I guess I'll live without watching TV and listening to music at same time. However, I have an older Sony CD/DVD Player connected to this system which allows me to use the CD function on the Denon to listen to music while watching the DVD w/o the DVD audio... so it makes me wonder if I've been duped by the Denon guy? Would like to pull this off if it is electronically possible. Still looking for additional input. I did follow the manual as per audio and video inputs with no luck... Denon said Video Select (pg. 70) will not work with what I'm trying to do.

Note: Also have PS3 (HDMI connect) as Blue-Ray player and Gaming platform

You cannot use HDMI. You would have to connect the sources you want to use with the component video to the receiver. What you could do is pick and input like VCR that you will not use and assign that component input to that source. Then use the video select to select that source.

If you have enough video outputs on the Dish receiver, and enough inputs on the TV, you could run a second video connection between the Dish receiver directly to the TV for those times that you want to watch Dish while listening to something else on your Denon.
