Denon AVR-2802 and the iPhone

Anyone have any idea how to connect an iPhone to the Denon AVR-2802? I've tried various lines in without any success. Not sure if what I'm trying to do is possible.

Going from the earphone jack to one of the high level inputs with a 1/8" stereo mini plug to RCA plug adapter cable doesn't work?

I believe you may also have to assign the inputs on the 2802. RTFM.

Were you successful with markw suggestion? I am trying to hook up iPod to avr2802 and would welcome suggestions.
