Denon AVR-2112CI Component input problem

Ive been having an ongoing issue with Best Buy's Geek Squad for about a year now. I bought my receiver April 2012 and had it delivered and installed. The only component device i have is my Xbox i got in 2008 (no HDMI) and the one component input on the receiver is assignable to name it DVD, GAME 1, etc. Well the technician named it to DVD and got the xbox going the day of install and everything seemed to be working just fine. A couple days later, whenever i turned on my xbox, id hear the sound but the screen would go black like the receiver was waiting to output the video and then Samsung's "no signal" message would come up. I had a GS technician out and it came on when he tried (of course it did) and everything was fine. Worked for a couple days and the "no signal" came back. I got fed up and took it into Best Buy and OF COURSE it works at the counter while theyre troubleshooting. After that I gave up on fixing it and just ran my xbox directly to my tv and played my games but now im on a mission to get it fixed again. Only thing is im 4 weeks AFTER the year to date of buying it and they wanna charge $100 to come troubleshoot again. Im fresh outta ideas and so now im here.

You're kinda late to the party. Instead of acquiescing and living with a jury-rigged solution, you should have persisted in having it fixed repeatedly while still covered by your plan. If they had an enormous number if failed attempts to correct it permanantly while under warranty, I think there is some kind of "lemon law" whereby the would have had to replace it with a working unit.

But, your plan expired and you have to pay the money. ...or continue to live with like it is.

I called Denon and what we had to do was factory reset my AVR and now the component input works. Now i have another problem. Whenever I turn on my AVR, it switches from SAT/CBL to TV by itself. I have nothing coming in on my TV input so im not sure why its doing that. It didnt do that before. It used to remember the last input I was on when it went on Standby. Is there a setting that the Geek Squad technician did that im not doing? Thanks in advance.

Hi. I'm not sure if this is it, but check out page 89 of the Denon owner's manual. It discusses the "Standby Source" setting. If yours is not set to "Last" (which is should be by default), try that. "HDMI Control" (also on page 89) should also be "Off" by default, but if it isn't, you could try that, too.

Ive been all over random forums on the internet and the general consensus seems to be that Anynet is on, it is going to switch to TV FOR SURE. I would have to turn off Anynet for it to stop switching by itself. The thing about this is if I do that, my TV's sound doesnt come out the receiver anymore and that will make me have to go buy a optical cable as well as pick up two remotes when watching tv: one for changing channels and one for volume. My cable box remote is a universal remote that only controls the cable box and the tv's volume. There is no AUX to program the Denon on. I AM SO ADAMANT THAT THERE IS A WAY FOR THIS TO WORK WITH LEAVING ANYNET ON. Like i said, until i factory reset my AVR, i would turn on my receiver and it would go to the last input i had it on. I do have "Last" enabled right now and it still switches inputs. I was able to use my cable box remote to adjust the volume and i would see the Anynet logo showing when i did that. Its annoying to keep having to bring the input back to SAT/CBL when it started on that input in the first place

I also have this same problem...

Denon AVR-2312CI that has behaved fine, and now when it is powered on and then 5 seconds afterwards switches input to TV.

Anyone got any ideas how to switch this behavior off, or configure the AVR to use 'Last' input correctly?

Thanks,

Andrew
