Denon avr 1910

I am having difficulty with the sound on my Dennon receiver. The model number is AVR-1910.

The problem seems to be with the HDMI connection. The connection carries the video signal fine but will not carry the audio signal.

I have run a couple of tests to isolate the problem. Firstly I have changed the HDMI cables several times to ensure that they were not the problem. Secondly I have put the HDMI cables into each of the four separate HDMI inputs to ensure that one of them is not the problem. Thirdly I have eliminated the HDMI output by simply using headphones while watching TV. Obviously I could see the picture but I cannot get any sound.

I can however get sound if I hook the cable box up to the simple RCA audio connections.

Consequently that shows me that the problem seems to be with the HDMI input. I wonder if there is something that needs to be reset on the system in order for that to work or if it is some kind of mechanical/electrical/circuitry problem.

The system was working fine until about 3 months ago and then stopped working. There was nothing untoward that I could see that would have caused it to stop working.

Any advice that you could give me as to how I can correct this problem would be greatly appreciated.

A reset may work. See your manual or Batpigs website. If not try an optical audio connection or contact Denon.

Check to make sure the HDMI Audio Out is not set to TV. It should be set to AMP. Pg 28 of your manual. If this is set correctly and you are still not getting sound I think it is time to call Denon. Is it still under warranty?

When you are on the input configured for the cable box, hit the 'HDMI Contro' button on the remote until the display reads 'Auto'. If your cable box is sending audio over HDMI, this will resolve the issue.
