Denon AVR 1802 to LG 42PQ30

I am having trouble hooking up my 5.1 system to a new tv i bought. the tv has only a optical audio out and i have tried an optic cable, but didnt work. Any advice here?

I have the 1804 and I had to manually assign the optical out to a certain function like tv or cd. Make sure you configure your tv for digital out as well.

Thanks for your response. the lg tv would only label components of a/v and not assign them.. there is nothing on the menu to allow this.. ?

On the receiver go to System and go down to the optical assignments.

As Zaluss said, you need to assign the digital optical input your using on the 1802 to TV, pg. 21 in the manual. You also need to turn the TV speakers off, pgs. 23, 82 in the TV manual.
