Denon Arena Rock Simulation

I love the Denon Arena Rock surround simulation, but my problem is the simulation is not available for two channel music listening, I guess because it is a "surround simulation"? Though I don't want to here "5 speaker" arena rock and I don't want to turn off all my other speakers everytime I want to listen to 2 channel music, since I do watch a lot of movies as well as listen to music. It just would have been nice had Denon included it as a two channel simulation, as another option along with the Stereo or Direct modes. Does anyone else share my frustration? It is really a great simulation for music and ideally music should be listened to in two channels so to me that seems it would have made more sense. If anybody has figured out how to make it work, though I am pretty sure it is not possible, please advise. The only thing I think may work is by re-assigning the back surround channels to two channel music listening, but I already utilizing those channels to bi-amp my main front speakers so I cannot take that approach.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure which model you have but in my 3808's manual in the back (pages 75, 76) it shows the Surround Modes and Parameters graph. It's pretty clear that you cannot use Direct or Pure Direct in conjunction with Rock Arena as they are all considered surround modes. However, in the channel output graph it shows your other channels (i.e. any channel not FL or FR) as "Turned on or off by speaker configuration setting". Perhaps the easiest way for you to listen to Rock Arena 2 ch is to go into speaker settings and turn off your center and surround channels -- and then turn them back on when you want to watch movies etcetera. Pain in the @ss yes, difficult no.
Take care.

Thanks

That is pretty much my take on it, thanks for confirming, and having to turn speakers off and on again will be a pain to be sure. I have the Denon 2308 and I know the charts you refer to, though I thought the Personal Memory feature would save the changes but it doesn't retain the speaker set-up per source, which is exactly my issue. Maybe that will be the push I need to get a universal remote with a macro feature...
