Denon and Marantz Offer Auro-3D Upgrade on Select AV Receiver Models

We have been inundated with news of Dolby Atmos and its new height and ceiling speakers over the last few months. With little word from Auro-3D and DTS UHD, we thought that Atmos would rule the roost for at least a model year as the other formats rush to market.We couldn't have been more wrong. Denon and Marantz announced that select models will be receiving Auro-3D via firmware update. Denon's AVR-X5200W and AVR-X4100W receivers along with Marantz's SR7009 receiver and AV7702 preamplifier will all get the update. We break down what this means for you the consumer and what speakers you should hang to take advantage of both formats.

That's quite cool being able to add Auro-3D just from a firmware. I figured there would be a hardware update like with Audyssey XT32.

Too bad they can't upgrade the Denon AVP-A1HDCI. :D
