Denon 987 Questions

I searched for this but nothing came up. Anyway I'm strongly considering buying the Denon AVR 987 but had a few questions:

1) I know the 987 is the same as the 2807 but is there any reason to get the 2807 instead? Are the remotes significantly different?

2) I have a Sony STRDA4ES now, while I know its just opinion can anyone offer insight on whether the 987 will have improved sound from the 4ES. Is one more real or bright or bassy than the other?

3) Does anyone know if the Denon will work well with the Klipsch Synergy F-3 Speakers which I already own?

Thanks for any comments.

1. Don't know.

2. With most modern receivers like the 2807, sound quality will be pretty much the same with each of them. Speaker choice and the acoustics of the room they are in are the dominant factors.

3. Number two pretty much covers this. The 2807 will drive the Klipsch's just fine.

Thanks for the info. I figured the same about speakers and how the room is set up concerning the sound. But there are those that say that receivers have a certain "sonic signature" and if the receiver and the speakers are both "laid back" or on the other end "harsh" then it may be too much and so you want them to compilment each other (harsh speakers with a laid back receiver for example).

Again, thanks.

That's not my experience, Moving a speaker 12 inches one way or the other may well alter the sound more than a different receiver. There are a ton of settings on receivers these days, so it's hard to compare apples with apples at the store. All that being said, there is nothing wrong with buying a couple different receivers, trying them at home and keeping the one you like best.

Except my low credit limit.

Thanks for all your advice. And again, my experience is similar to yours. Having my floor cut in square foot tiles has been invaluable for easily seeing where my speakers are located in relation to each other and walls and I move them around meticulously and frequently for optimal placement.
