Denon 588/Denon help

I have a denon 588 receiver and it is 'stuck' in analog. I also cannot transmit video from my dvd player to the receiver, and from the receiver to the tv.

How can I maximize the best sound? Does the cable I use matter?

Have I not set up the system properly?

Any help from users would be much appreciated.

Did you use the manual when you set it up? It really helps.

They don't know what format you will use, so it comes like a kind of blank slate. You need to tell it to accept HDMI, Component, Composite, etc for video and Analog, Digital Coax, Digital Optical or Auto for audio.
