I just recently traded up from my Yamaha RX-Z9 to a Denon 5805, I have a few questions about setup.

First off I will say the Denon GUI is nowhere near the quality of the Yamaha but that is a different issue.

Here are what I am having trouble with:

1. I cant find a way to rename components, ex: Change {VDP} to {HD DVD}
If anyone knows how to change label inputs please enlighten me.

2. The Auto setup isn't working at all for me {It says: Error Microphone none or speaker none?} I have the mic hooked up and my speakers are hooked up.

I am most likely going to need more help because the GUI isn't very friendly, Setting up the RX-Z9 was a piece of cake but this thing is getting me P**sed

Thanks in advance for your help.

Does the manual mention how to rename the inputs? Maybe it just doesn't have that capability...

I cant find it in the manual, there is alot to read...lol But I would find it very sad if Denon left out such a simple feature on there flagship unit.

Thank you very much for taking the time out of your day to help me! I am only on page 34, I guess I should have spent more time going over the table of context.

Anyways, your help was appreciated.

Here is another dumb question I would appreciate an answer too. Anyone with this unit, would you be able to tell me where the sleep button on the remote would be located? lol

Cant seem to find that either, other than that this thing is really starting to sing. It took a while to setup and I am still tweaking it but overall I am very happy with it's performance. Just trying to find the sleep button so I can add it to my pronto and I will be a happy camper.

Thanks in advance for your time and help.

Well after a couple of days trying to find the "SLEEP" button on the remote, I emailed Denon for there response, here is the reply I received.

Good Day Sir,

To my knowledge there is no "SLEEP" button or function associated with the
AVR-5805.

I find this hard to believe, So once again I will ask here. Gene do you know if this unit has a sleep feature? Or anyone else with this unit please leave your input.

I fall asleep regularly on the couch in my second zone and I would rather not leave the unit on, So a sleep button is important to me. Thank for your help.

Well I just got off the phone with Denon and they also told me that the 5805 does not have a Sleep feature. I still cannot believe this and I am chaulking it up to "They dont know what they are talking about" lol.

In all honesty this is a very important feature to many people who put on a movie to fall asleep.

From the reviews on this unit saying it has every feature possible, I think they missed out on something that every other from low-end to high receiver has.

Someone please tell me I am right, and this simple feature was not left out. It's just hard to find...

Well it's official, there is NO sleep function on the $6000 Denon Flagship!!! {I am still in shock, something that basic gets looked over}

Am I the only one who uses this feature on a regular basis?

I think you should put that in an update part to your review Gene. In your ultimate system you have it as your center piece, But for someone like me who has his second zone in the master bedroom and likes to fall asleep to a movie/show it is a hassle.

I guess I could hook up the old red and whites to the back of the TV and bypass the receiver but that defeats the purpose of the system I installed in there. Or I could buy a smaller receiver for the room, but that defeats the purpose of the 5805 being a whole house 4 zone system!

Dont mind my rant, I just found out the function I have been looking high and low for the past 3 days doesn't exist. Talk about time wasted!!! lol
