Does anyone know if any of the listings on ebay for the Denon 5805's are for real? Has anyone acquired one? My initial feeling is they are scammers!!

No, they're legit. Dakmart is an authorized reseller for Denon. I'd probably go ahead and order right from Dakmart's site rather than go thru the ebay B.S.

No, the ones listed for $3500+ I know are legit, I am referring to the others offering free shipping and for bidders to email them first. I have contacted them and they are offering these units for under $1,000 shipped. I am assuming these are scam artists (SO BUYER BEWARE) unless someone has actually acquired one - that's why I am asking.

If something seems too good to be true, most likely it is.

If they are asking you to contact them at another e-mail address then there is a good chance that they hijacked someones E-Bay identity (I've had it happen to me). They want you to e-mail another address and paypal to that address. There is no way for ebay to track it and almost impossible for PayPal to force their hand on it. Meanwhile, some poor guy gets nailed by Ebay for posting bad offers. It's got said a couple of times but "If it sounds too good to be true...it is"

However what the other guys said about Dakmart is 100% correct. They sell on ebay and are an authorized B-stock dealer. I still would never purchase something like that online. I'm too afraid of what the shippers would do to it (Despite the fact that I've worked retail and I know what happens before it ever gets in the customers hands) and too afraid of what it would cost to ship it back if it was DOA.

Personally, I wouldn't mess around saving a couple of bucks on a $6k receiver like a 5805. A piece like that should be bought from an authorized dealer whom can support the product for you since it isn't very easy to set up.

They are scammers..how do i know? Cuz i did try to scam the scammers but apparently i failed since i didnt get the 40"sony xbr for $750..Lol. I emailed them, asking about the place of the tv, etc etc. They asked me to send the money by moneygram or the western union..Well, i said, i'd pay you 1500 if you could deliver me the tv first to my doorstep and i'd pay double. It took me around 5 days until he finally gave up.

Almost ALL expensive things that are sold in groups as featured items (showing up in purple at the top of the search) are scams. The easiest way to know is by looking at the seller's history....if all they've done recently is sold a few baseball cards and bought a shirt, then chances are they aren't legitimately selling $6k stereos for $1000 :)

Any FM days Howard Stern fans? I remember when Gary was trying to get an antique microphone for Howard as a Christmas gift. He fell for the spoof e-mail and wired a few grand to europe. Never recieved the mic. Denon 5805 for 80% off seems fishy!

Actually I have a 5805 for sale that I could let you have for the reasonable price of $2000US. PM me your checking account and routing numbers and I will ship immediatly:)
