Hi,
I noticed one of the Audiholics reference systems has a 5803 as a reciever.

I'm not sure what number is important here but my 5 Totems have 87 as sensitivity and are 4ohms. When watching a film I rarely go louder than -15 and -24 for music in my 10-12' X 15' room.

I haven't changed my sub yet which is a Paradigm pdr8.

In the speaker setup everything is set to small and I have the crossover set to 80 and the frequency or non volume knob set to max or 150.

Would anyone familiar with these speakers or some similar comment on what I've done with the sub.

I'm probably getting all it can do but maybee I should have set it up differently.

Thanks,
Peter m.

I assume you are currently using a Denon AVR-5803 in your set-up and are referencing the volume levels accordingly to the units master volume level. If so, it sounds like you are not driving the receiver very hard and it should be able to handle your challenging speaker load given your listening levels and room size. If you ever feel the need to "crank it up" beyond that, you can always add an external two channel amp to give the AVR-5803 a little break. Usually more power is needed in a two channel system then a multi channel system to achieve loud listening levels since the listener is only being bombarded with two sound sources (speakers).

Hi Gene,
If your still plugged into this thread and have recently done what I consider tobe the definitive review on the 5803 perhaps you can give me some guidance with this question.

My Paradigm PDR 8 is the first sub I've ever bought and my sense is that due to the fact that I've upgraded everything else in my system I'm left with a quandry.

My HT is rather small 10-12'w x15'd x8'h.
Should I keep my present sub due to room size? should I get a better sub in keeping with room size and if so what specs should I be looking for?
Should I add a sub to the PDR 8 and if so How would I do it with my 5800/03 and again what specs should I be looking at if I were to add one.

I've addressed this to you but of course welcome any enlightened comments from our membership.

I haven't mentioned a budget because I would imagine once I know the specs I should be looking at there will be candidates in different price ranges at which point I'll decide how much I want to invest.

Thanks,
Peter m.
