Hello everyone, I am new here but did a lot of searching and reading and would like some suggestions and input.

I currently have a Yamaha HTR-5860 receiver and I think I am going to upgrade it. I am leaning towards getting the Denon 4308ci and I can get it for about $1250 new.

For my setup with speakers I currently have all Polk Audio speakers. A CS400 center, RP3000p fronts (only the top half not the subs), fx500 rears, and a PSW450 sub. I use my system for a mix between music, watching dvds through an upconverting dvd player, and playing video games and watching blu-ray movies through my PS3.

I like the network capability of the receiver because I would like to be able to play songs right from my computer. And I also would like to have it upconvert my signals from my older game systems to 1080p. Oh I have a 1080p tv.

So what I am wondering is if the 4308 is my best bet to get. Denon now has the new 4810 out and I have searched and found the Marantz 8002 receiver, but I can't tell if that will do everything I want.

Anyway, what do you guys think? Is there something else I should be considering? Like maybe separates? Though I am completely new to those. Or a different reciever? Maybe I am even crazy to get rid of the Yamaha?

Thanks for any help you guys can give!

Let me get this straight you have polks and think you need to upgrade your receiver first?

I suggest you get some better speakers or sub first.

The sub you could get with that money would rock your world and take you to a new audio level. IOTW don't blow money on a receiver that is meant to driver a 6000k system untill you got the speakers worthy of it. And even then it's kind of a bit much honestly. If you are hell bent on a receiver pick up an Onkyo 905 from accessories4less. That receiver is loaded and has a great set of amps.

Still I say get a better sub then some better speakers. Then get a receiver. If you simply need hdmi you can get that in a 300 dollar machine and spend your money better in other areas of your setup.

What speakers and sub would you reccomend?

Thinking about it I don't need a new receiver, I can get everythign hooked up the was I want it right now by just connecting my DVD player and PS3 via HDMI to the tv and running optical or coaxial to the receiver for the sound. I won't have any of the HD sound decoding though, but is that worth it?
