Denon 4306 vs. Yamaha 2700 vs. Outlaw 990/7200?

Need your thoughts on these two units. Both seem to have similar specs and close price points (Yammy being a bit less), but which one will be better for HT and for music?

And to throw a wrench into it, how about either compared to an Outlaw 990/7200 set up?

:D

Why get either? If you are going to spend plus $2,ooo in this day and age why get it all in one massive box that will provide limitations for the future. Go with seperates (ie processor/amp). You will get more flexibility down the road, you can always upgrade one or the other and you will step up into the real world of "higher" end.:D
Look into manufacturers such as Proceed, B&K, Sunfire, Lexicon etc..And if the money is a factor get the processor now and use your old receiver as the amp.:)

Good point. I just don't know if you can get a good set of separtes for $1500-2000? I have the Outlaw 990 Pre/Pro and its good but it lacks a lot of the newer features such as HMDI, 1080p, Ipod etc. Also, at the end of the day the Outlaw products are re-packaged Sherwood products.

I have spent a lot of time with the 2700 in the past few days. It is the real deal. I highly recommend the 2700. I have to disagree with MatCat about seperates. A top notch receiver like the 2700 is a much better way to go. The preamp section is impecable and the amps offer more than enough power for most people. If you want more power you can always add external amps down the road.

Why buy a receiver and then add seperates later? That just doesn't make any sense. And the list of seperates that matcat lists is far superior to anything HK, Yamaha and Denon can muster up! Do yourself a favor and get both and compare side by side and you will then see the difference. Much like better speakers, at this point all the specs are meaningless (just follow your ears and you wont be disappointed).:D Of course return the Loser!!!:p

Well, following one's ears is not so easy:D The eyes tend to get in the way of judgements. ;) Human bias can overwhelm the ears and the feedback is unreliable.

And, actually good specs will tell you a lot and research shows this to be so.

You could bypass the processor with the HDMI and go direct to TV. DVD can up-convert. Ipod is a different issue.
If you must have that capability, you need a modern component. Nothing wrong with receivers but that also depends on your speaker's impedance and sensitivity, room size and your volume requirements.
